Spain Rising 6-Pack
Member Price £125.25
There isn’t a more dynamic and exciting wine country in the world than Spain right now.
An unexpected consequence of a century of wars, emigration and rural decline is the vast quantity of precious old vineyards left largely untouched.
You combine this with a new generation of ambitious winemakers, along with the affordability of doing business here, and you get unbeatable value for quality.
The new vintage of Ana Carazo's La Loba Ribera del Duero has just arrived, along with a bunch of other Spanish treats.
So I’ve put together an incredible selection from some of the country’s top independent talent. In this case you’ll get a bottle each of:
- La Loba Ribera del Duero 2020 - a powerful, brooding Tempranillo from 100+ year-old vines, with lovely aromatics and savoury flavours. This is Ribera with bags of personality - just like winemaker Ana
- La Mateo Tempranillo Vendimia 2022 - one of the very first wines I decided on for WineSpark. It spends 14 months in French and American oak, making it a classic mellow, fruity, smoky and powerful Rioja
- A Coroa Godello 2024 - from the magical Valdeorras region of Galicia, this is one of our most popular wines, and it’s showing no sign of slowing down. Albariño and Chablis lovers rejoice
- La Suerte de Arrayán Garnacha 2019 - a single vineyard, high altitude Garnacha from 70 year-old vines in the Gredos mountains near Madrid. Think Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but with extra elegance and freshness.
- El Bufón de Arrayán Albillo Real 2023 - a golden, citrusy and full-bodied white with hints of honey and tropical flavours, and a distinct minerality from the granite soils in the vineyard.
-
Vinyes d’Olivardots Gresa 2019 - Carlota’s flagship red and a blend of several small vineyards on varied soils, giving you the perfect introduction to Empordà. The nose is incredibly bright and vibrant, with blue fruit and savoury notes, while the palate is juicy, pure and spicy
Or if you’d like to build your own case, here’s a selection of wines made by Spain’s best rising talent.
